How are you practicing Lent this year? Fasting, prayers of repentance or almsgiving (giving to the poor)? How is it going? Like some of you, I’m fasting from all meat. It is hard but I’m slowly getting the hang of it.

This morning we will learn from Jesus how we can avoid going through Lent simply as a motion and a spare-ritual but truly as a deep and transformative experience.

This week we enter another season of Lent. It is a great time of preparation for Easter where believers around the world focus on 3 things: fasting, almsgiving (giving to the poor) and prayers of repentance. To many this is a good time to go back to the heart of our worship, and learn to die to ourselves and live for God, a little more.

This Sunday, I invited an Anglican priest (who also teaches at McGill) to come and give us an Ash Wednesday message. It will be a good time to "remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return."
