Westminster Shorter Catechism asks this in question 87:
Q: What is repentance unto life?
A: Repentance unto life is a saving grace, whereby a sinner, out of a true sense of his sin, and apprehension of the mercy of God in Christ, does, with grief and hatred of his sin, turn from it unto God, with full purpose of, and endeavor after, new obedience.

We continue our Lent season this week by exploring one of the three pillars of Lent: prayers of repentance. How real is your repentance? How can you improve this foundational area of your discipleship?

Story behind Though You Slay Me

How are you practicing Lent this year? Fasting, prayers of repentance or almsgiving (giving to the poor)? How is it going? Like some of you, I’m fasting from all meat. It is hard but I’m slowly getting the hang of it.

This morning we will learn from Jesus how we can avoid going through Lent simply as a motion and a spare-ritual but truly as a deep and transformative experience.
