Advent Sunday #4 @ MCBC…

Salvete ecclesiae!

Putabam latine scribere hac septimana. Putabam latine scribere hac septimana. nostro auditorio hac septimana inscribitur "nunc dimittis". Simeon carmen de Messia.

Last week we talked about the events following shortly after the birth of John the baptist. This week let's talk about the events shortly following the birth of the one John was to proclaim, Jesus Christ Messiah Saviour. We will try to understand these events and the person of Jesus (at the center of the events!) through the eyes of Simeon. One who was dearly awaiting and expecting the Messiah…sometimes I wonder how Simeon would react if he lived in our times and had to wait for Christmas (2000 year + after the actual birth of Jesus). Would he anticipate this special moment with the same excitement and fear? His song reveals a lot and we have much to learn from Simeon. By the end of our time together I hope we will be able to spiritually bob our heads to his hymn in Luke 2.

See y'all ready to party and bob our heads in worship.

PS. free coffee to whoever guesses first the language and the meaning of the first part of the email. No it's not Greek, Spanish nor Italian…and google translate might not be much help either…

Advent Sunday #3 @ MCBC…

Hey guys!

If your mouth had been bound and your ears shut so that you were mute and deaf what would you do? What would be the first words to come out of your mouth if you had been deaf and mute for 9 months? And how would you say what you would want to say? As much as Christmas is an extravagant message this message also had a very quiet side…a very silent prelude that ended with a shout. This is advent Sunday #3. Tongues will be loosen on advent Sunday #3!!!

Advent Sunday #2 @ MCBC…

Hey peeps!

Some ppl have a knack for being killjoys. During Christmas season they are those who will argue about the origin or validity of Christmas. Amongst the many killjoys some will argue that Christmas did not really happen during Winter and that we adjusted this event to fit the calendar…blah blah blah…who cares!? That’s tiny detail compared to the HUGENESS of the event itself. Do not get sidetracked. Let’s focus on the event: Jesus was born! This is too BIG of an event to not be rejoicing. It would be crazy not to be rejoicing and giving praise to God for this amazing event.

Be ready for advent Sunday #2!

PS. Here is last week’s benediction. It was so nice that I had to use it. It was written by Bruce Prewer based on Isaiah 9:2-7

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light;

those who lived in deepest night, are lit up with a brilliant sight.

Unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given.

The spread of his influence and of his peace will never end.

Therefore, go out into the world with great joy,

and the grace of Bethlehem’s matchless Child,

the love of the God who never ceases to amaze,

and the fellowship of the Spirit who never wearies,

will be with you this holy night and evermore.

Thanks be to God!
