Hey church,

I hope I'm not falsely raising your expectations but I can't wait for this coming Sunday! I'm so pumped about our message and what God has revealed to me through the infamous Great Commission (Matthew 28:16-20)!!!!! I thought the passage/message might be dry and sound too familiar but it was not (at least to me). I can't wait to share it with you.

Just to give you an idea…right now, my head is spinning with thoughts and images of race cars, guys at the gym, a map of the world, soldiers, nuclear warheads, daredevils, the future, history books, the 11 disciples, Jesus and math. Isn't God soooo creative when we choose to listen to Him speak!

I hope you will all come with an open mind, humble heart and attentive ears this coming Sunday!

Our theme for 2013-2014 was "Nurturing your Spiritual Life and Obeying the Great Commission." In 2013 we focused more on the first part: Nurturing your spiritual life. This year we will focus more the second part: Obeying the Great Commission. Anyone who knows about evangelism, peace-making, outreaching, missions will know these are tough and can be scary things.

Sunday morning we will start a 2-part series to launch our amazing but daunting theme…hopefully this year evangelism, peace-making, outreaching, missions will become scary amazing! Be there to hang out with Jesus, Peter, Andrew, James and John.

Did you reflect on our 2 questions from last Sunday?

 

o         What are the things you pursued in 2013 that you hoped to achieve? What were you looking to personally boast about from 2013?

o         What if God wanted you to have thorns in the flesh to be the highlights of your 2013 so that you could know his grace and power rested on you?

 

This coming Sunday we will continue where we left off last Sunday: trying to make sense of 2013’s weaknesses, hardships, troubles, trials, pains and others thorn in the flesh. We will continue and expand on the idea of God making our thorn in the flesh perfect.

 

Hopefully this will help us put 2014 in perspective and get ready for it!
