\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Montreal Chinese Baptist Church\u00a0was established in August 1975 as a worship congregation at Temple\u00a0Baptist Church. Before the end of 1977, the\u00a0church\u00a0moved to its present location. Mr. and Mrs. David Chan arrived in November 1978 as the pastoral couple. The\u00a0Baptist\u00a0Convention of Ontario and Quebec purchased the building in early 1980 and with the assistance of the Quebec\u00a0Baptist\u00a0Convention, the building was donated to MCBC as a permanent\u00a0church.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Three years later, in the spring of 1983, the first phase of the new\u00a0church\u00a0was opened (now the secondary\u00a0church), and in the same year the\u00a0Church\u00a0set up a mission fund to prepare for the mission. To date, it has supported several missionaries financially: in China, South America, and North America.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0The second phase was completed in the summer of 1992 and is now the main sanctuary hall. In January 1989, ten years after pastoring the community, Pastor David Chan and his wife Esther were called to Hong Kong to serve with Overseas Missionary Fellowship. Pastor Wong Chun-Keung and his wife arrived to serve the\u00a0church\u00a0at that time. The English Fellowship and English Worship began in 1989 and 1990 respectively, while the Mandarin Fellowship was established in 1998.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Pastor Leung Chi-Keung (then the deacon of the\u00a0Church) was called by God to serve as a preacher. In February 1992 after graduating from seminary, he was hired as an assistant preacher. Three years later, he was ordained.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In the summer of 1994, the\u00a0church\u00a0sent their first\u00a0short term mission team. Pastor Wong led a team of seven people to Venezuela for two weeks. During this mission, God inspired a sister to dedicate herself to the mission of a different culture, and was later sent to the Middle East. She was the first missionary sent out by the\u00a0church. Thanks to the Lord, the\u00a0church’s mission work continues to flourish, including missions to\u00a0Chinese\u00a0seafarers, South American short missions, local short term missions and\u00a0Chinese\u00a0short missions.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In the fall of 1995, the\u00a0Church\u00a0Planting Discernment Committee was established and a conclusion was established after two years of prayer and discussion. On September 23, 1997, the first worship service at\u00a0MCBC City-West Mission began. The daughter church became self-reliant in 2000 as Montreal City-West Baptist Church.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 From 2002 to 2006, Pastor David Tsang served and led the assembly. For health reasons, he returned to Vancouver in 2006 to recuperate. Pastor Chan Wai Kuen took over as the Senior Pastor of the Association in March 2009 and served until the end of December 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Pastor Rici Be started pastoring the English congregation in 2010 to 2019. \u00a0Rev. Be was ordained on 13th<\/sup> December 2015.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 Pastor Karl pastored the English congregation from December 2020 to August, 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 MCBC started adapting the new church constitution in 2018.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mandarin congregation started to have their own Sunday Service on May 1st<\/sup> 2011, Rev Xuelian Yang started serving as part-time interim pastor on \u00a0<\/span>1st\u00a0 <\/sup>January 2018. Rev. Yang was recognized Ordained Ministry Leader, associated with the CBOQ on 16th<\/sup> May 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n
